Here are my snaps from the Stephen Benjamin Memorial Benefit game, which we played at Champion hill at the end of the season, hopefully they will compliment the ones published previously, taken by Paul Griffin.
Getting ready in the stand.
Old habits die hard!
First Team manager Craig Edwards takes the warm up
seriously, as the rest of us stand around, as per usual!
Richard Strivens, making his debut, tells Craig how to
play the game!
Mark Hutton is in charge, and picks his team,
woth Football Club Chairman Jack Payne in the stand
watching, in the white shirt.
The humiliation! Our two guest First Team players
Stanley & Darryl are dumped on the bench by him!
But he sees sense, and starts the game with our stars!
Another debut 'guest' from the 'Southwark News', he had a better
run-out than their 'hosses'!
Get it over son! This is REAL football!
Hutty can't stop tinkering. But never mind writing the team
down on the back of a cigar packet, just what exactly
is that he's writing on?
Anyone would think we only had a couple of decent players! ;-)
All smiles from Andy, after the calret had subsided!
Cheeky young pup! First game & he thinks he runs the team!
Our other debut 'boy' Paul, old enough to be Strivs
grandad!
A big thank you to the First Team contingent here, for giving up
their morning, and turning out for us. A big honour for us all.
Time for the obligatory team photo.
And here were our opponents, the Old Westminster
Citizens XI.
Then a combined team photo, as Dawn gets friendlier
than others! ;-)
And finally the two elder statesmen: our own young pup
58 years old Mark Hutton, alongside their sprightly 72 year
old Jock Henderson, who had a run out for both sides;
thus becoming the oldest ever to wear our shirt. A ploy to keep
Hutty playing for another fifteen years to re-claim his
record!
