Seven-a-sides

I'm not exactly sure when we first put a team in the Hamlets Health Club seven-a-side leagues, on the all weather pitches, behind the main Champion Hill stadium, on the old Greendale playing fields. I know we didn't enter them straight away, but did so not too long afterwards, maybe a year or so. Which would be about fifteen years ago. The team is currently made up of a mix of Hamlet fans, and players who've been brought in to make up the numbers, but are 'veterans' of our sevens side. The leagues themselves are in four divisions, and consist of six teams per division, who you play twice over a ten week 'league season'. The top & bottom two swap places in each division. We are currently struggling in Monday Division Two, and face an uphill struggle to stay up. Over the years we have played in all four divisions!

We also have another 'affiliated' team on Wednesday evenings. While not strictly under 'The Rabblers' banner, they use our kit, and were formed by our stalwart Larry Marsh. Whilst our Monday side have at least half of our players being Hamlet regulars; the Wednesday outfit have about a quarter to a third of Hamlet fans in their side. I hope to take some snaps of their game tomorrow.

Last night we had a welcome, but rare, victory. Winning 3-1 against Bearded Women.
Yes really! You can get some strange names in the Sevens!

Left to right: Larry Marsh; Danny Harris; James O'Shaughnessy;
Joel Virgo; Steve Rickerby; Nikou Teymourian; Chris Wheeler.
(Front): Shaun Dooley; Rob Formisano; David Harris.

This was one of the hat-trick goals from Nikou!
